Falcons continue steady improvement at state-wide meet

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Notre Dame Cross Country squads continued their steady improvement this season as they competed at the All-Ohio Championship hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Friday. NDC took the course after 14 days off from competition which did not seem to interfere with the team and individual performances in the multi-team event.

The Falcon men finished in sixth place out of 11 teams in the Division II/NAIA competition and 23rd of 42 teams overall. Leading the way for NDC was Ross Lenehan (Fr/Austintown, Ohio) who finished 13th with a time of 26:58.30. Overall, Lenehan's time put him just shy of the top-50 finishers, clocking in for 53rd place out of 280 total runners.

On the women's side, Notre Dame also took home a sixth place spot in the Division II/NAIA bracket among 11 teams. Cherice May (Jr/Euclid, Ohio) was the top finisher for NDC, clocking in at 20:32.70, in 27th place (of 75 runners).

"Both teams moved up in finishes compared to last year," said head coach David Bellar. "This was a challenging course and the teams really put out some good times."

Notre Dame gets one final tune-up before the American Mideast Conference (AMC) Championship when they head to Bowling Green, Ohio on Saturday, Oct. 8, for the Falcon Invite hosted by Bowling Green State University. The meet is slated for a 10:45am start.
