SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame Softball announced today that Christina Hutchison of Ashtabula, Ohio, has signed an NAIA Letter of Intent to continue her softball career with the Falcons.
Hutchison comes to Notre Dame from Lakeside High School in Ashtabula, where she was a standout pitcher for Head Coach Kerri Weir. The four-year letter-winner finished her Lakeside career with 699 strikeouts, was a two-time All-Premier Athletic Conference First Teamer and a three-time honoree on the All-Ashtabula County First Team.
Hutchison was the Dragons’ team MVP in each of her four seasons (2006-09) and also played three seasons of varsity soccer at LHS.
"Christina is a powerful combination, with her pitching and her offensive talents,” said NDC Head Coach Amy Kyler. “She throws the ball hard and has a lot of power in her swing. She will compliment both our pitching staff and our batting order."
The daughter of Jeffrey and Norma Hutchison plans on enrolling at Notre Dame in the fall.
Notre Dame Softball finished their season with a program-best 34-11 overall record in 2009. The Falcons claimed both the regular season and tournament titles in the American Mideast Conference. They also made their first-ever appearance at the 2009 NAIA National Tournament, held in Decatur, Alabama, advancing to the quarterfinal round.
