Falcons soar at All-Ohio event

Notre Dame Track & Field sets two personal records at BGSU

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio--The Notre Dame Falcons set two program records, 20 personal records, and added four more national qualifiers on Saturday at the All-Ohio event at Bowling Green State University.

On the men's side, #Nick Glavac# set a school record in the Mile Run, with a time of 4:22. He placed fourth overall, and qualified for nationals, which made him the program's first athlete to qualify for the nationals in three separate events (Mile, 3K, 5K). #Brandon Brodwolf# scored 4,297 points in the Heptathlon event, and he finished fifth overall. 

#Tim Miller# placed fourth in the Shot Put event with a throw of 49 feet. In addition, the men's 4x400-Meter relay team of #Brandon Tolliver#, #DeMar Sheffey#, #Jerrell Settles#, and #Joseph Leyland# finished third and qualified for nationals with a time of 3:24.46. 

Sheffey also set a program record in the 200-Meter event, with a time of 22.69. 

For the women, #Shawnta Davis# qualified for nationals in the 400-Meter event and placed fourth with a time of 59.57. #Tiffany Tucker# finished fifth in the 60-Meter High Hurdles event with a time of 9:11. #Katherine Higgins# continued to improve, as she dropped her time in the 3,000-Meter event with a time of 11:44, which was 50 seconds faster than her first performance in the event.

“All in all it was an excellent meet for us,” said head coach #Rico Franklin#. “We are really starting to come together, and we are only beginning to scratch the surface of what we're capable of.”

The Falcons are back in action on Friday, Feb. 19. They will head to Berea, Ohio, to compete in the Greater Cleveland Championships.
