Notre Dame Women’s Bowling qualifies for sectionals

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio --The Notre Dame Women's Bowling team has qualified for the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team sectional qualifying tournament, and will have a chance to compete for the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships in April.

The Falcons will be one of 14 teams to compete in the Allentown (Pa.) sectional, on Friday, March 12. Notre Dame will compete against the likes of Adrian, Briarcliffe, Erie Community College, Hudson Valley Community College, Michigan State, Mohawk Valley Community College, Notre Dame College, Ohio State, Penn State, Penn State-Berks, Pikeville, Rochester Institute of Technology, SUNY Institute of Technology, and Webber International.

Sectional assignments are based on the Team Ranking System points earned in USBC Collegiate-certified competition throughout the season. USBC Collegiate attempts to place no more than two of the top eight schools and no more than four of the top 16 schools in a sectional based on final TRS totals. Sectional Qualifier fields are determined by taking geographic distance, economics and field size into consideration.

The sectionals will consist of 32 Baker System games each day for a total of 64 Baker games. The top four teams based on total pinfall in each division following the completion of competition at each sectional will advance to the 2010 USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships.

"This is a great achievement for our program in its inaugural season,"said Head Coach #Jeff Robinson#.  "We are very excited to be able to compete against the best of the best."

The Falcons will compete in the fifth and final tournament for the American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference this weekend.
