Dummermuth makes NAIA Division II All-America Third Team
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame sophomore forward Eric Dummermuth had one of the greatest single seasons in the history of Notre Dame College, and on Wednesday, it was announced that he made the 2009-10 NAIA Division II All-America Third Team

The Dover, Ohio, native was the only sophomore to crack any of the three All-America teams, and he becomes just the second player in the history of the program to receive All-American honors (Jerome Pierce).

Dummermuth set new single-season scoring and rebounding marks for Notre Dame, averaging 22.0 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-6 forward averaged 35.7 minutes per contest, shot 57.7 percent (244-for-423) from the field and made 73.6 percent (184-for-250) of his attempts from the free-throw line.

Earlier this season, Dummermuth became the sixth player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. The sophomore sensation powered the Falcons to an AMC North title and a 19-12 record, earning five AMC Player of the Week awards along the way. The former First Team All-Ohio prep selection posted 20 double-doubles on the season and now has 34 such games in his two seasons on College Road. He was one of 10 AMC players selected to the circuit’s First Team.

Dummermuth’s All-American honor marks his second post season award. Earlier this month, Dummermuth was named to the American Mideast Conference’s first team, along with fellow Falcon Nick McCartney

“This is a great and very deserving honor for Eric, he has a tireless work ethic that continues to make him a very special player,” said Head Coach Kevin Bille. “We are very proud of him and look forward to his next 2 years in the Blue and White.”

The All-America teams were comprised of three ten-man teams, and several honorable mentions. Steve Briggs from Oklahoma Wesleyan was named the State Farm/NAIA National Player of the Year after leading his team back to the national semifinals and averaging over 21 points per game. Briggs and Nathan Menefee (Evergreen State) are the lone repeat members of the first team.
