Four Wrestling Falcons bound for title bouts on tourney's final day

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Notre Dame had four wrestlers remain undefeated through Saturday's action at the 2010 NAIA National Championships, as the Wrestling Falcons widened their lead at the tournament to a whopping 47 points.  (Team Standings | Brackets)

NDC has garnered 152.5 points through Friday's action at Abe Lemons Arena in Oklahoma City. Southern Oregon (105.5 points) sits behind the Falcons, in second place.

Continuing what has been a dominant season for the Notre Dame program, currently in its fourth season since being instituted in 2006, the Falcons will send four grapplers to the mats for Saturday evening's championship bouts. Jeffrey Pelton (149 pounds, Bellevue, Ohio), Thomas Straughn (157, Massillon, Ohio), Derek Foore (197, Wadsworth, Ohio) and Orlando Scales (HWT, Cincinnati) will all have a crack at earning national titles for Notre Dame.

Notre Dame had the maximum 12 grapplers start the tournament on Thursday. Heading into Saturday's championship and placing bouts, 10 are still alive in the brackets.

The team's strong performance puts them in an excellent position to win the College's first national championship in any sport.
