John Angelo closed out a big week with a 1-under 71 on Saturday, as the Falcons carded a fifth-place finish in a 17-team field at the College of Wooster’s Nye Intercollegiate. (

Notre Dame (32-29) fired a four-man score of 316-313--629 over the 36-hole, Friday-Saturday event at 6,454-yard Wooster CC. Angelo was NDC’s low man; he placed fourth in the field of 75 players, at 77-71--148. Earlier in the week, Angelo fired a 71; he now owns a team-low scoring average of 77.4.
Tony Pinzone also earned a Top-10 finish for the Falcons -- Pinzone carded back-to-back rounds in the 70s (78-74--152) for the first time since the fall portion of the season.
Malone shot 291-299--590 to win the Nye Intercollegiate. MU’s Tyler Light was tournament medalist, finishing at 2-under par (73-69--142) over the 36 holes. Bolstered by three players finishing in the Top-5 (Light, Ben Smith, Justin Lower), the Pioneers finished 17 shots clear of the tournament runner-up, Baldwin-Wallace (301-306--607).
With a 12-4 performance at Wooster, NDC runs its 2009-10 season record over .500, to 32-29. The Falcons have two scheduled tournaments remaining in their season (Grove City Invitational, April 26, and American Mideast Conference Championship, April 29-30) and have a shot at posting a record over .500 for the first time in program history.
