CANTON, Ohio -- Nearly one month after becoming the first Track & Field athlete at Notre Dame to win a national championship, #Michael Mannozzi# won the 5-Kilometer Race Walk at the Jack Hazen Open.
Mannozzi finished the event in 22:40, setting a new program record, and he finished three minutes faster than the rest of the field. The senior from Youngstown, Ohio, was the only Notre Dame athlete to compete at the Jack Hazen Open.
The victory is just another chapter in what has been a terrific career for Mannozzi at Notre Dame. Back on March 5, Mannozzi secured Notre Dame's first ever Track & Field national championship, by winning the 3,000-Meter Race Walk at the NAIA Indoor National Championships.
The Falcons will be in action again on Saturday, April 10. They will participate in two competitions, with competitors in both the Slippery Rock Invitational, and the Don Frail Invitational.
