GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Notre Dame had three players earn Top-10 finishes en route to winning Monday's Grove City's MBA Invitational. (Results)
#Tony Pinzone# (73, fourth place), #Brooks Steputis# (75, T-fifth) and #John Angelo# (77, T-ninth) paced the Falcons in one of their top performances of the 2009-10 season. The win for NDC, which carded a team score of 304, continues what has been a recent hot streak -- the Falcons are 20-5 over three events in the last week.
“This has been a good stretch of tournaments for us,” said Head Coach #Nick Formica#. “I'm proud of the guys, and we're on the right track heading into the AMC tournament.”
The Falcons' win on Monday came in a field of eight teams; with their 7-0 performance NDC runs its season mark to 39-29. With one tournament remaining on the year (the American Mideast Conference Championship on April 29-30), the Blue & White are ensured of posting their best mark in the history of the program.
Point Park's (Pa.) Darin Kowalski earned medalist honors with a 1-under 71 at the par-72 Grove City CC. The Falcons' 304 was three strokes better than St. Vincent (Pa.), which fired a 307.
The MBA Invitational is named in honor of three gentlemen who have made a profound impact on Grove City College and its golf program -- longtime trustee Milford "Miff" McBride, former golf coach and director of athletics R. Jack Behringer and longtime Grove City golf coach Bill Allen.
