NDC Women's Soccer volunteering their time in the off-season

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The Notre Dame Falcon women's soccer team have been active in the community this off-season, coaching youth soccer and also helping at the Jason Madachy Foundation Dinner.

The team has been coaching at Willoughby Youth Soccer on Saturday's throughout the spring semester, helping the young soccer players improve their skills.

In addition to volunteering their time to coach, the team sold raffle tickets and helped with the Chinese auction at the 6th Annual Jason Madachy Foundation Dinner on Saturday April 13th.  The Foundation was established in memory of Jason Madachy who unexpectedly passed away in the summer of 2007 whilst pursuing his dream of becoming a physician. The Foundation raises money to provide stethoscopes to first year medical students.

Notre Dame Head Coach Mike Shiels spoke of the importance of community engagement for his players “Both projects were great opportunities for us to get out in the community and help….Coaching at Willoughby allows the team to pass on their skills and experience to the youngsters and also to serve as positive female role-models for young girls….Acting as servers at the dinner was a lot of fun and the mission of the foundation really rings true to the team.  We really appreciate Joe and Dolly giving us with the opportunity to contribute to the night.”
