SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – As part of Notre Dame College Athletics annual "Sock It 2 Breast Cancer" (SI2BC) campaign, the Falcons will be donating $983 to the Gathering place and $330 to the Side-Out Foundation.

The SI2BC campaign ran throughout the fall, winter and spring athletic seasons with the aim to raise awareness and funds. The campaign saw NDC's women's teams donning pink socks and fundraising at select athletics events throughout the year.

The campaign was started by Director of Athletics Scott Swain to raise awareness and also funds for breast cancer research. "Our Falcon student-athletes have really bought into the overall scope of the Sock It 2 Breast Cancer series since its introduction" said Swain. "I am so proud of the student-athlete's efforts for such a worthwhile cause.  I hope we can find a cure for this disease that affects so many people."

The Gathering Place opened in January 2000 and is located in Beachwood, Ohio. The Gathering Place supports, educates and empowers individuals and families touched by cancer through programs and service, which are provided free of charge.

The Side-Out Foundation was established in 2004 to unite volleyball players and coaches and to have them work toward the common goal of furthering breast cancer awareness, education and patient services. Funds are contributed to organizations that serve breast cancer patients, whether it be in the form of research, medical services or patient support.
