SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The Notre Dame College Athletic Department hosted its second annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday night in the Performing Arts Center.
Three individuals and one team were inducted in front of a capacity crowd. Molly Merrill, Anna Ball, Dave Hilborn and the 2005 NDC men's soccer team were inducted into the Hall of Fame, marking the second class in NDC history.
Merrill (2005-09) had an outstanding career for the Falcons, finishing in the top-10 in many major categories and also played an integral role in putting the NDC women's lacrosse program on the map. Merrill finished her career as the all-time leader in most statistical categories, including a program record 144 career goals. In addition to being the program's all-time leader in goals, she was also the all-time leader in points (193) and second in assists (49).
Ball (2005-09) finished her remarkable career as the NAIA's all-time leader in batting average with a .514 mark. While at NDC, Ball set multiple school records, and is still the program's all-time leader in home runs (30), doubles (87), hits (280), runs (174), on-base percentage (.579) and slugging percentage (.861). Ball was also named the 2006 American Mideast Conference Freshman of the Year in her rookie season, and went on to win AMC Player of the Year honors three times.
Hilborn (2001-05) played an instrumental role in starting the men's basketball program upon his arrival on College Road in 2001. He finished his career with 1,828 career points, the most in program history at the time of his graduation. His 1,828 points are still the third most in program history. Hilborn made 661 field goals in his career, also good for third in program history. His 322 free throws are also the third-most in program history, and he shot 77.4 percent from the free throw line overall, a top-10 mark.
The 2005 men's soccer team became the first team in school history to make it to a National Tournament at any level. The Falcons advanced all the way to the Elite Eight, and finished the season ranked as the No. 18 team in the country. The team was also selected as the recipient of the Nels Dahlquist Memorial Team Sportsmanship Award.
"It was a very exciting night on so many levels," said Director of Athletics
Scott Swain. "To bring back these fine student-athletes and honor them was a very special occasion for the Falcon Athletics community. These three individuals and team laid the foundation for the athletic successes we are experiencing today at Notre Dame College."
