Ryan Osborne joins men's soccer coaching staff

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The Notre Dame College men's soccer program has named Ryan Osborne as assistant coach, joining the Falcons after a two-year stint as assistant coach at Marietta College.

Prior to his time as assistant coach at Marietta, Osborne served as a graduate assistant at his alma mater - and Mountain East Conference rival, the University of Charleston.

"The appointment of a new assistant coach was an incredibly important decision process for the program," said head coach Carl Nolan, who enters his first year as head coach of the Falcons but has been with the program since 2004. "I had to get the right person, and I believe 100 percent that the College has made a great hire in Ryan Osborne."

While serving as a graduate assistant at Charleston, Osborne was responsible for the startup and running of the UC-Beckley men's socer program, which began in 2014. Before starting the UC-Beckley men's soccer program, Osborne was an assistant for the Division II Golden Eagles while finishing up his undergraduate studies.

A native of Wakefield, England, Osborne was a standout player for the Golden Eagles before he began his coaching career.

While a player at Charleston, Osborne was twice named to the Daktronics All-Region team and was also an All-WVIAC selection in 2011. In 2011, he led the team in assists and in 2010 the team advanced to the Sweet 16.  During his time at Charleston Osborne was a part of teams that won four straight regular season and conference tournament championships.

"Ryan brings a great playing background and a wealth of knowledge about the Mountain East Conference from his time at the University of Charleston as both a player and a coach," said Nolan. "He has invested in his coaching education, and it certainly shows in his training sessions. Everyone that I spoke to about Ryan listed his work ethic and great character, these are qualities that I know will serve him well at Notre Dame College."

Following his collegiate career, Osborne played the summer 2014 season with the West Virginia Chaos in the Premier Development League (PDL).  He was on a team that won the South Atlantic Division and advanced to the PDL Elite Eight.  He split time as a forward and attacking midfielder and helped the team achieve their best season in franchise history.

As a youth Osborne spent time in the Barnsley FC program.
