Notre Dame Women’s Basketball was instituted in 1973. The program was discontinued after the 1978-79 season and then reinstated in 1989.
AFFILIATIONS
Notre Dame earned NCAA-II membership in the summer of 2012. After competing as an NCAA-II Independent in the 2012-13 season, the Falcons joined the Mountain East Conference in 2013-14.

The Falcons made a magical tournament run in the 2015 MEC Tournament, where they made it all the way to the Final Round as the 6th seed in the tournament. Notre Dame pulled off upsets over Charleston and Shepherd before falling in the Finals to West Liberty, 76-55, in their first ever appearance in the MEC Championship.
After joining the Mountain East in the 2013-14 season, the Falcons either hosted in the first round of the MEC tournament, or earned a first round bye in each of the first three seasons.
