MEDINA, Ohio -- The Notre Dame Falcons lost their fourth American Mideast Conference match on Thursday afternoon, as they fell 7-2, to Roberts Wesleyan.
The loss for Notre Dame (6-8, 0-4) was their sixth in their last seven games. The Falcons did manage to secure a victory in doubles play for the second day in a row, as the tag team of Cory Meek and Geoff Becktell won the final doubles match, 8-3.
Notre Dame was only able to scratch across one victory in singles play. Senior Jonathan Morris came away with Notre Dame’s lone victory, defeating Nick Hunter in two sets, 6-1, 6-1. The Huddersfield, England, native improved to 8-6 on the season with the victory, and leads the Falcons in victories.
"The scores do not indicate how close the matches were," said Head Coach Luke Taylor. "I have noticed improvement with each match so I cannot complain. We just need to find a way to win another point here and there.”
Notre Dame’s originally scheduled contest on Friday, April 9, against Lake Erie has been postponed, and will be made up on Friday, April 16. The Falcons’ originally scheduled contest on Sunday, April 11, against St. Vincent (Pa.) has been cancelled, and will not be made up, meaning Notre Dame’s next match will take place on Thursday, April 15, against Defiance. The match will take place in Pepper Pike, Ohio, and is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
